Understanding Eligibility for DOT Drug Testing
The Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires drug and alcohol testing for companies in the transportation industry. If your company falls under the Department of Transportation's jurisdiction, it must regularly perform drug and alcohol screenings for employees performing "safety-sensitive" duties. If your company is in one of the following industries, then you are considered under the DOT's jurisdiction:
